  3. Chemical Engineering. I chose to study Chemical Engineering at Jesus College, mainly because I thoroughly enjoyed the subjects that I studied at A-Level (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics). The course was a natural combination of everything that I’d studied so far, and I’d decided that I wanted a practical career within industry.

Jesus College was one of the first men’s colleges to admit women, in 1974, but nowadays, our student intake is evenly balanced between men and women.

  5. Jesus College was founded in June 1571 by a group of Welshmen led by Hugh Price, a lawyer, clergyman and Treasurer of St. David’s Cathedral. In approving the new foundation however, Queen Elizabeth I appointed herself its Foundress, and Jesus became the first and only Oxford College to be founded during the monarch’s reign.

We admit around 145 undergraduates every year to study with us, and offer all the subjects available in the University. We're just above medium size for a Cambridge College, and there are roughly equal numbers of students studying arts and sciences.

  7. Jesus College. Jesus College was founded in 1571, its title reflecting the strong religious beliefs of the age. Elizabeth I granted the new college a charter and the premises of White Hall, an academic hall that already had a 300-year history. It is the only college in Oxford to have been founded in Elizabeth’s reign.
