Jim the Penman is a 1921 American silent crime drama film produced by Whitman Bennett and distributed through Associated First National, later just First National Pictures. It is based on a well known play, Jim the Penman by Charles Lawrence Young about a forger in Victorian Britain.

Jim the Penman: Dirigido por Kenneth S. Webb. Con Lionel Barrymore, Doris Rankin, Anders Randolf, Douglas MacPherson. A bank clerk forges a check to help his girlfriend's father. He's found out, but instead of being arrested he becomes a member of a gang of forgers.
In order to save Enoch Bronson, the father of the woman he loves, from financial ruin, bank cashier Jim Ralston forges a check in the name of Baron Hartfeld, who, on discovering the fraud, promises Jim immunity in return for aiding his gang of swindlers.

Synopsis by Janiss Garza. Lionel Barrymore stars in this melodrama, based on the play by Sir James L. Young. Jim Ralston (Barrymore) is a country bank clerk who has a talent for forging signatures. He's in love with Nina Bronson (Doris Rankin, Barrymore's real life wife) and saves her father (Ned Burton) from financial ruin by forging a check.
