Johann Tserclaes, Count of Tilly, was a Catholic field marshal who led the Catholic League's forces during the Thirty Years' War. He won several significant victories against the Protestants but suffered a crushing defeat at the Battle of Breitenfeld in 1631 and died shortly after from wounds sustained at the Battle of Rain.
