John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (June 6, 1650 – June 27, 1722) [1] was an English soldier and statesman whose career spanned the reigns of five monarchs throughout the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
Biography. John Winston Spencer Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough (1822-83), son of the 6th Duke, was a Conservative politician. As Marquess of Blandford he was M.P. for Woodstock, 1844-45 and 1847-57. Churchill was Lord Steward of the Household, 1866-67, and Lord President of the Council in Benjamin Disraeli's government, 1867-68.
