Colonel John Custis IV (August 1678 – November 22, 1749) was an American planter, politician, government official and military officer who sat in the House of Burgesses from 1705 to 1706 and 1718 to 1719, representing respectively Northampton County and later the College of William & Mary.

John Parke Custis (November 27, 1754 – November 5, 1781) was an American planter and politician, only son of Martha Washington before her marriage to George Washington. He is now known for his progeny, especially those raised by President Washington.

John Parke Custis (known as Jacky when younger, and Jack as he got older) was around four years old when his mother Martha married George Washington. Custis was one of the two surviving children of Martha Washington's first marriage to Daniel Parke Custis. As a result, George Washington became Jacky's legal guardian.
