Lancaster, Lord of the Isle of Man, Knight of the Shire of Lancashire (1415), Justice of Cheshire (1426-27), Sheriff of Anglesey, Lieutenant of Ireland, Chamberlain of North Wales, b. ca. 1386, succeeded father in 1414, d. in early December of 1437.[4]

Sovereign Lord of the Isle of Man in 1406; Constable of Windsor Castle in 1409; Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (second term) from 1413 until his death in 1414. Poet. It has been suggested that Stanley was the as-yet unidentified "Gawain Poet".
Sir John Stanley II. Born c.1386, became Lord of Man in 1414 on death of father . Twice visited the Island to put down rebellions (1417 and 1422); was also responsible for putting the laws of the Island into writing. A brief description is given in Manx Note Book (vol iii p1-4).
