John Lambert, Distinguished Engineer at Azure Security heads the flagship Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center group. Previously, he managed the Network Security and Science team in the Trustworthy Computing division and is responsible for monitoring the security of Microsoft's network and the development of novel defenses protecting systems.
John Lambert was born in Yorkshire in 1619. He studied law but joined the Parliamentary forces on the outbreak of the Civil War. He served under General Thomas Fairfax and in 1643 was given command of the cavalry in Yorkshire. Lambert fought at Hull (1643), Nantwich (1644), Marston Moor (1644) and Oxford (1646).

At the fall of Richard Cromwell (1659) Lambert defeated a Royalist uprising in Cheshire and assisted in dissolving the Rump Parliament. When General George Monck marched south to restore Parliament, Lambert marched north in an attempt to negotiate or stop him by force, but was abandoned by many of his soldiers.
