John Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden. John Jeffreys Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden, KG, PC, FSA (11 February 1759 – 8 October 1840), styled Viscount Bayham from 1786 to 1794 and known as the 2nd Earl Camden from 1794 to 1812, was a British politician.
John Jeffreys Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden (born Feb. 11, 1759, near Chislehurst, Kent, Eng.—died Oct. 8, 1840, near Sevenoaks, Kent) was the lord lieutenant (viceroy) of Ireland from 1795 to 1798, when his repressive actions touched off a major rebellion against British rule.

Camden, John Jeffreys Pratt, 2nd Earl and 1st Marquis (1759–1840). Statesman. Son of the famous lawyer, Pratt came into Parliament in 1780 and succeeded to the earldom in 1794. After a number of minor offices, he followed Fitzwilliam in 1795 as lord-lieutenant of Ireland, holding the post until 1798.

In the frieze of the drawing room of Camden House today, is a painting of a long, rather low, building said to represent the house in Camden‘s time, but locals will perhaps remember him more in several of our street names, Camden Close, Camden Grove, Camden Park Road, Camden Way and Lower Camden.
