Josias was born in Wildungen [1] [2] [3] on 31 July 1636 Jul. [4] [note 1] as the second son of Count Philip VII of Waldeck-Wildungen and Countess Anne Catherine of Sayn-Wittgenstein. [1] [5] [6] [7] After his father's death in 1645, Christian Louis, Josias' eldest brother, succeeded him.

Josias de Waldeck-Pyrmont (allemand : Josias Georg Wilhelm Adolf Erbprinz zu Waldeck und Pyrmont) (13 mai 1896 – 30 novembre 1967) était l'héritier apparent du trône de la principauté de Waldeck-Pyrmont et un général de la SS. À partir de 1946 jusqu'à sa mort, il était le chef de la Maison Princière de Waldeck-Pyrmont.
Waldeck (o posteriormente Waldeck y Pyrmont) fue un principado soberano del Imperio alemán y, hasta 1929, un Estado constituyente de la República de Weimar. Comprendía territorios que hoy pertenecen a los estados federados de Hesse y Baja Sajonia ( Alemania ).

He was the nephew of Queen Victoria's daughter-in-law, Princess Helena, Duchess of Albany. Two of his other aunts were Queen Emma of the Netherlands and Maria, Princess of Wurttemberg.
