With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Earl Lyons Jr. of Warner Robins, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 1, 2024 at the age of 84. Enid Lyons was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) in the Coronation Honours of 1936. Enid was, as they say, one in a million.

When the Labor Party came back into power in 1941, Hughes sat on the Advisory War Council (1941–44) and maintained his seat in Parliament until his death.
