Jovan Oliver Grčinić ( Serbian: Јован Оливер Грчинић; ca. 1310–1356) was a magnate of the Serbian Emperor Dušan the Mighty (r. 1331–1355), holding the titles of sebastokrator and despotes, and the rank of "great voivode ", showing his prominence and status as one of the most important nobles of Dušan.

In 1331, the older monastery was completely renewed by sebastokrator (later despot) Jovan Oliver (c. 1310 – after 1356), who ruled over the region. During the Church Synod in Skopje in 1347, Tsar Stefan Dušan (r. king 1331–46, tsar until 1355) established in the monastery the seat of the newly-formed diocese of Zletovo.
HISTORICAL NOTES: Throughout Emperor Dusan's rise, Jovan Oliver was one of his right-hand men, whom he elevated upon his imperial coronation to the second-ranking office of the despot. Apart from his military experience, documents show his important diplomatic skills.
The new monastic complex known today was founded in 1341 by Despotes Jovan Oliver Grčinić, a magnate of Serbian kingdom who owned the surrounding area. Jovan Oliver built a church dedicated to St Michael as well as new dwellings and bestowed a charter to Lesnovo in which he lists its numerous possessions.
