Biografía. Carlos Augusto fue el segundo hijo varón del príncipe Juan Ernesto de Nassau-Weilburg y de María Polixena de Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hartenburg. En su juventud, ejerció como diplomático de Sajonia; durante un periodo fue embajador sajón en París. Sucedió a su padre como príncipe en Nassau-Weilburg el 27 de febrero de 1719.
