Carl Leonhard Reinhold [1] (Viena; 26 de octubre de 1757-Kiel; 10 de abril de 1823) fue un filósofo y, como escritor, el más importante representante de origen austríaco de la Ilustración alemana. Su hijo Ernst Christian Gottlieb Reinhold (1793-1855) también fue filósofo.

Karl Leonhard Reinhold (26 October 1757 – 10 April 1823) was an Austrian philosopher who helped to popularise the work of Immanuel Kant in the late 18th century. His "elementary philosophy" ( Elementarphilosophie) also influenced German idealism, notably Johann Gottlieb Fichte, as a critical system grounded in a fundamental first principle.

Austrian philosopher who worked in Germany. Reinhold was professor at Jena from 1787 to 1794, and subsequently at Kiel. After a period as a follower of Kant, he veered towards the idealism of Fichte and of Jacobi, eventually rejecting their idealism in favour of a kind of realism associated with C. G. Bardili.
