Princess Ketevan married George, the eldest son of King Heraclius II and heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of Kartli and Kakheti in 1766. The marriage helped the Andronikashvili clan, especially Ketevan's brother Revaz, advance their cause at the royal court against the rival faction patronized by Heraclius II's consort Darejan Dadiani .

Princess Nino was born in Tbilisi as the sixth child of then-Crown Prince George and his first wife, Ketevan Andronikashvili, in 1772, in the lifetime of her reigning grandfather, Heraclius II of Georgia. In 1791, at the age of 19, Nino was married off to Grigol Dadiani, Prince of Mingrelia.
The eldest son of the last Kartli-Kakhetian, King George XII by his first wife Ketevan Andronikashvili, he was educated in Russia (1787–1789), and served there as a colonel of the Russian army from 1797 to 1798.
After an ambush perpetrated by the Lezgins, Ketevan took the leadership of her army by herself and annihilated the marauders. After arriving in Tbilisi unharmed, she was received by Heraclius with a large celebration festivity.
