In 1921, Kinnaird Castle, which was situated in one of the grandest Scottish glens and was the seat of the Earls of Southesk for more than 600 years, burnt to the ground. "Only a small part of the servant's wing has escaped.
Kinnaird Castle sits in 800 acres of mature parkland between Brechin and the Montrose Basin. The house has been occupied by the Carnegie family (Earls of Southesk) for over 600 years. The Castle offers self catering holiday accommodation in two apartments overlooking the deer park. These are ideal for family gatherings or fishing parties.

The earl of Southesk also holds the Scottish feudal title of Baron of Kinnaird and is a baronet in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia. Kinnaird Castle, Brechin, has been the home of the earls of Southesk for several hundred years. The first earl of Southesk's great-great-grandson, the fifth earl, was involved in the Jacobite rising of 1715.
01674 810240. By Air. Dundee airport is the closest 40 minutes away. More regular flights come in to Aberdeen (1 hour away) Edinburgh (1 ½ hours) or Glasgow (2 hours). We have a wonderful taxi service in Brechin that will meet flights if you do not have your own transport. By Train.
