14 de may. de 2024 · Hitler believed that General Paul von Hindenburg, the German president, would be obligated to appoint him Reichskanzler. General Kurt von Schleicher, the minister of defense and Hindenburg’s most trusted confederate, encouraged him in this conviction.
10 de may. de 2024 · Von Papen then tried to convince Hindenburg to dissolve the entire Weimar constitution. The Minister of Defence, Kurt von Schleicher, opposed this action, persuading Hindenburg that doing so would lead to a civil war. Hindenburg responded to Von Papen by sacking him and replacing him with Von Schleicher.

Hace 2 días · Kurt von Schleicher forced Franz von Papen to resign and himself succeeded Papen as chancellor on 3 December. Schleicher, a retired army officer, had developed in an atmosphere of semi-obscurity and intrigue that encompassed the Republican military policy. He had for years been in the camp of those supporting the Conservative counter-revolution.
Hace 6 días · The political deadlock continued, however, and in December 1932 Hindenburg set aside Papen and replaced him with Gen. Kurt von Schleicher. Papen, who retained some power and influence as a vice-chancellor, persuaded Hindenburg to bring Hitler into the government, thereby creating a coalition with a majority in the Reichstag.
