Luneburgo ( [ˈhanzəʃtat ˈlyːnəbʊɐ̯k] en alemán: Hansestadt Lüneburg) es una ciudad situada en la Baja Sajonia, Alemania. Es la capital del distrito homónimo. La primera mención que se tiene de ella data de 956. En tiempos de Johann Sebastian Bach fue un pequeño centro musical.

Lüneburg hatte bereits im Spätmittelalter und zu Beginn der Neuzeit etwa 14.000 Einwohner und gehörte damit zu den damaligen großen Städten. Die Einwohnerzahl sank mit dem wirtschaftlichen Niedergang bis 1757 auf 9400 und stieg danach wieder an. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg brachten Flüchtlinge und Vertriebene innerhalb weniger Monate einen Zuwachs um 18.000 Personen auf 53.000 Einwohner.
