From 1729, her married name became Stewart.

  5. In January 1728 (or 1729), he was married to his cousin, Lady Catherine Cochrane, the third and youngest daughter of John Cochrane, 4th Earl of Dundonald and Lady Anne Murray (second daughter of Charles Murray, 1st Earl of Dunmore). They had nine surviving children:

  6. Lady Catherine Cochrane (d. 1786), who married, as his second wife, her cousin Alexander Stewart, 6th Earl of Galloway, in 1729. [6] After the death of his first wife, he married Mary Somerset, Duchess of Beaufort (1688– c.1721) on 15 October 1715.

  7. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 9 daughters. She lived in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom in 1707. She died on 15 March 1786, in Bath, Somerset, England, at the age of 79, and was buried in Walcot St Saviour, Somerset, England.
