Situated in the heart of the Hohenlohe region and in the particularly scenic central Jagst valley, the small town of Langenburg, which was first mentioned in 1226 as “Langenburg castrum et oppidum”, has been a popular tourist destination and climatic health resort since the 1950s.

In the 13th century, it became the ancestral seat of the important House of Hohenlohe, which was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1450 and prince in the middle of the 18th century.
