Laurence Bruce of Cultmalindie (20 January 1547 – August 1617) was a Scottish landowner and factor to the Earl of Orkney. He features in a number of traditional stories of Shetland. [1] Background. He was the son of John Bruce of Cultmalindie and Euphemia Elphinstone. [2] .

Laurence Bruce, 3rd of Braewick, married 4/22/1722, Ann Margaret Nicolson daughter of Arthur Nicolson of Lochend. They had 5 sons: Arthur, Henry, James, Robert, and Laurence, as well as 2 daughters, Margaret (married 5th January, 1759, Samuel Scollay, merchant in Lerwick), and Janet.
He married Helen Kennedy of Girvan Mains Bruce on 20 August 1559, in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 6 daughters. He died in August 1617, in Muness, Unst, Shetland, Scotland, at the age of 70, and was buried in Sand Wick, Shetland, Scotland.

She was the second daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 1st Lord Elphinstone and Elizabeth Barlow or Barlay (c. 1476 – 10 September 1518), an English woman of the household of Margaret Tudor. [2]
