Leopold Stokowski conducting 'Music of France' is a natural for this most flamboyant of maestros. ...this is Stokowski live, and consequently full of the unexpected: the transcendent ritardando at the end of Afternoon of a Faun for example. Good clear sound.
Stokowski's final public appearance took place on 22 July 1975 during the Vence Music Festival in the South of France. He conducted the Rouen Chamber Orchestra in several of his own transcriptions of Bach.
