George Petty-Fitzmaurice, 8th Marquess of Lansdowne (1912–1999) Lord Charles was killed in action on 30 October 1914. He is buried in Ypres Town Cemetery. The inscription on his gravestone reads: NOT IN VAIN NOT UNHONOURED NOT FORGOTTEN THEY GAVE UP THEIR LIVES.
