The grand duchy was the sixth-largest state of the German Empire and the largest one to have no reserved powers. Its 853,000 inhabitants in 1875 were 2% of the Empire's total population. This small size alone pushed the grand duchy into insignificance.

14 de may. de 2024 · Prince Louis of Hesse and by Rhine, was the youngest son of Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse by his second wife, Princess Eleonore of Solms-Hohensolms-Lich. He succeeded his brother Georg Donatus as the titular Grand Duke of Hesse after his death.
