  3. Biography. Lucius Bentinck Cary, 10th Viscount of Falkland was born on 5 November 1803. He was the son of Captain Charles John Cary, 9th Viscount of Falkland and Christiana Anton. He married, firstly, Lady Amelia Fitz-Clarence, daughter of William IV Hanover, King of the United Kingdom and Dorothea Bland, on 27 December 1830.

  4. Lucius Cary, 2nd Viscount Falkland PC (c. 1610 – 20 September 1643) was an English author and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1640 to 1642. He fought on the Royalist side in the English Civil War and was killed in action at the First Battle of Newbury .

This became, in the words of Clarendon, ‘a university bound in a lesser volume’. Elected to Parliament in 1640, Falkland condemned arbitrary rule, but opposed radical change.
