Mabell Frances Elizabeth Ogilvy, Countess of Airlie, GCVO, GBE, DStJ (née Gore; 10 March 1866 – 7 April 1956) was a British courtier and author. Early life. She was born the eldest daughter of Arthur Gore, Viscount Sudley, and his wife, Edith, daughter of Robert Jocelyn, Viscount Jocelyn.

His wife, the Countess of Airlie, was a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth II, [1] following in the footsteps of his grandmother, Mabell, Countess of Airlie, who was a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary. [19] She was the first American to be appointed a lady-in-waiting.

On October 23, 1952, she married David Ogilvy, Lord Ogilvy, who in 1968 became the Earl of Airlie. With her husband, Lady Airlie has six children: Lady Doune Mabell Ogilvy (b. August 13, 1953); served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of her uncle Angus Ogilvy and Princess Alexandra of Kent.
