Kashyapa (fl. 400 B.C.) . Also known as Uruvilva Kashyapa or Mahakashyapa, he was the eldest of the three Kashyapa brothers and among the Buddha’s earliest disciples. He was also India’s First Patriarch of Zen.
Everyone was silent. Only Mahakashyapa broke into a broad smile. The Buddha said, "I have the True Dharma Eye, the Marvelous Mind of Nirvana, the True Form of the Formless, and the Subtle Dharma Gate, independent of words and transmitted beyond doctrine. The drop has dissolved into the ocean; or the ocean has dissolved into the drop. It is dissolution, annihilation. Patanjali uses kaivalya; the word means “absolute aloneness.”.

This ‘nothing’ is what God is; and this freedom, this tremendous freedom — that there is no longer any desire to bind you, no bondage exists — this is what moksha, liberation is.
