Her brother Hewitt and his wife, Marian, also both served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Hewitt was a surgeon and Marian a nurse. Margaret Martha Brooke enrolled as a Nursing Sister Dietician on March 9, 1942 at the rank of Sub-Lieutenant.

The anthem remained in use until the Raj was ceded to the United Kingdom in 1946 and became its crown colony.
HMCS Margaret Brooke (AOPV 431) is the second Harry DeWolf -class offshore patrol vessel for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). The class was derived from the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship project as part of the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy and is primarily designed for the patrol and support of Canada's Arctic regions.
Upon completion of construction of the future HMCS Margaret Brooke, over 2,600 tonnes of steel will have been cut, fabricated and outfitted for the vessel.
