Margaret Erskine's children with Sir Robert Douglas included: William Douglas, 6th Earl of Morton; Robert Douglas b. 1543, who married Christina Stewart, 4th Countess of Buchan and was the father of James Douglas, 5th Earl of Buchan. Sir George Douglas b. 1535; Euphemia Douglas b. 1533, who married Patrick Lindsay, 6th Lord Lindsay.
Elgin's Margaret Erskine was privileged during her successful athletics career, to compete against Fanny Blankers-Koen who was widely considered to be the greatest female athlete of the 20th Century. Blankers-Koen, from the Netherlands, was the undoubted star of the 1948 London Olympic Games, winning gold medals in the 100m, 200m,80m hurdles and 4x100m relay.

She was the sixth of the nine children and the second of the four daughters of John Erskine, 5th Lord Erskine (1487 – 1555) and Lady Margaret Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 2nd Earl of Argyll and Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, 1st Earl of Lennox.
21 de may. de 2006 · The daughter of Joseph Erskine, a coal merchant and farmer, Margaret Erskine was educated at the Elgin Academy in Scotland, where she started her athletics career. She became a fine long jumper, and won the Scottish national title. After the War she worked at the Cadbury factory in Birmingham, and was a member of the Birmingham Atalanta AC.

Biografía. Nacida en Canadá en una familia adinerada, se crió en Devon , Inglaterra , donde recibió una educación privada. Inició su carrera literaria adoptando el seudónimo de Margaret Erskine con la publicación en 1938 de And Being Dead , reeditado al año siguiente en Estados Unidos bajo el título The Limping Man .
Margaret Erskine (1901-1984) was the pseudonym of Margaret Wetherby Williams, who was born in Ontario, Canada and grew up in Devon. Her series character was Inspector Septimus Finch.
