15 de feb. de 2013 · Born in 1473, Margaret Pole was the daughter of George, Duke of Clarence, niece of both Edward IV and Richard III, and the only woman, apart from Anne Boleyn, to hold a peerage title in her own right during the sixteenth century.
2 de feb. de 2022 · Geoffrey Pole was arrested and Margaret was kept in custody, first at her interrogator William Fitzwilliam’s residence, but was later transferred to the Tower of London. In May 1539, an act of attainder was passed against her for aiding and abetting her sons Henry and Reginald and having ‘committed and perpetrated diverse and sundry other detestable and abominable treasons’.

Margaret attended her cousin, the new Queen, Elizabeth of York, being present at the christening of the heir to the throne, Arthur, in 1486 and the Queen's coronation in 1487. Around that time, Henry VII arranged her marriage to his half-cousin and trusted supporter, Sir Richard Pole. She thus became Lady Margaret Pole.
