Lady Margaret Sackville (24 December 1881 – 18 April 1963) was an English poet and children's author. Born at 60 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair, Sackville was the youngest child of Reginald Windsor Sackville, 7th Earl De La Warr. She was a second cousin of Vita Sackville-West. [1] Poetry.
The most well known of the war poems is ‘Nostra Culpa’, which famously denounces women who support the conflict as betrayers of their men-folk: ‘We mothers and we murderers of mankind’. Though most of the rest of her work is no longer read, Margaret Sackville is an important First World War poet.
