Wilhelmine of Prussia, Margravine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Princess Friederike Sophie Wilhelmine of Prussia (3 July 1709 – 14 October 1758) was a princess of Prussia (the older sister of Frederick the Great) and a composer.
Wilhelmine as a princess obsessed with building. A town in transition. For her 24th birthday, her husband gifted her the now world-famous Hermitage. The margravine immediately began planning the redesign and redevelopment of the park.
Wilhelmine of Prussia (1709-1748), Margravine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, was the eldest sister of King Frederick II of Prussia. Highly cultivated and deeply interested in the sciences, she formed a small book collection in her Berlin years. In Bayreuth, she continued to collect books from at least 1737.

The free-standing building from the Baroque era with its impressive wooden interior construction foreshadowed the large public theatres of the 19th century. Since 2012 the Margravial Opera House has been a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The 18th century Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth is a masterwork of Baroque theatre architecture, commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine of Brandenburg as a venue for opera seria over which the princely couple ceremonially presided.
