Hace 5 días · Patrick's wife Maria Brontë, née Branwell (15 April 1783 – 15 September 1821), was born in Penzance, Cornwall, and came from a comfortably well-off, middle-class family. Her father had a flourishing tea and grocery store and had accumulated considerable wealth. Maria died at the age of 38 of uterine cancer.

24 de abr. de 2024 · I’m all for Madame Constantin Héger’s approach. She discovered that Charlotte Brontë was in love with her husband after finding a few of the novelist’s letters to him torn up in the bin.
1 de may. de 2024 · Maria Branwell’s early life was more Jane Austen than Bronte. As a member of the gentry she enjoyed a life of festive balls in the Assembly Rooms, theatre in the Playhouse, fine dining, fashionable clothes, and afternoon visits for tea with her many friends.
Hace 5 días · It was later that Patrick met Fennel’s niece, Maria Branwell, because of this introduction Patrick and Maria were married at Guiseley Parish Church in December 1812 and later had their four children, Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and Branwell.

She had a brother named Patrick Branwell and two sisters, Charlotte and Anne, who were also novelists. The three sisters published together under the names Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell.
