Marianne Sägebrecht spielte bereits während ihrer Schulzeit in einer Theatergruppe. Nach dem Realschulabschluss absolvierte sie zunächst eine Ausbildung zur medizinisch-technischen Assistentin. Im Alter von neunzehn Jahren heiratete Sägebrecht und bekam eine Tochter.
