25 de nov. de 2017 · After a chaperoned dinner, the King personally proposed to Maria Eleonora, who said yes. Despite protests from her son, the Duchess managed to smuggle her daughter out of Brandenburg to Mecklenburg, where Swedish ships were waiting to bring her to Kalmar. Following a month of travelling at sea, Maria Eleonora arrived safely in October of 1620.
Maria Eleonora war eine Tochter des Kurfürsten Johann Sigismund von Brandenburg (1572–1619) aus dessen Ehe mit Anna (1576–1625), Tochter des Herzogs Albrecht Friedrich von Preußen. Die Prinzessin wurde von ihrer Mutter im lutherischen Glauben erzogen, obwohl ihr Vater das reformierte Glaubensbekenntnis angenommen hatte.
Duchess Marie Eleonore of Cleves was the Duchess of Prussia by marriage to Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia. She was the eldest child of William, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg and Maria of Austria.

Marie Eleonore was the second daughter and third child of Johann Sigismund von Hohenzollern, Kurfurst von Brandenburg (Elector of Brandenburg) and his wife Anna von Hohenzollern, Herzogin von Preussen (Duchess of Prussia) and was born at Schloss Königsberg in Prussia on 11 November 1599. [1]
Marie Eleonore war das einzige Kind des Kurfürsten Joachim Friedrich von Brandenburg (1546–1608) aus dessen zweiter Ehe mit Eleonore (1583–1607), Tochter des Herzogs Albrecht Friedrich von Preußen.
