Marie Touchet was the daughter of Jean Touchet, squire of Beauvais and Quillard, a huguenot, and of his wife Marie Mathy, daughter of a Flemish physician. She probably met the future Charles X when they were both in their teens. She became Charles X's mistress and bore him a son, Charles de Valois-Angoulême (1573-1750).
