Marina Gamba moved into Galileo's house in Padua and bore him three children, Virginia (1600), later Sister Maria Celeste, Livia (1601), later Sister Arcangela, and Vincenzio (1606).

ca. 1570-1612. Marina Gamba was born around 1570 in Venice. It was here perhaps that she met Galileo, who often visited there during his time in Padua. From their relation three children were born, of whom Galileo did not recognize paternity. Only Vincenzo was subsequently legitimized, in 1619 by intercession of the Grand Duke of Tuscany.
En 1599, a los 35 años de edad, comenzará su relación amorosa con Marina Gamba, de 21, (a quien conoce en uno de sus frecuentes viajes a Venecia). Marina Gamba se traslada a casa de Galileo para vivir con él, aunque sin casarse. Con ella tendrá dos hijas y un hijo: Virginia (1600), Livia (1601) y Vincenzo (1606).
