Maria Donata Nanetta Paulina Gustava Erwina Wilhelmine Stein, CBE (18 October 1926 – 6 March 2014), known as Marion Stein, and subsequently by marriage as Marion Lascelles, Countess of Harewood, and later Marion Thorpe, was an Austrian-born British concert pianist.
Fred Stein (July 3, 1909 – September 27, 1967) was a street photographer in Paris and New York after he was forced to flee his native Germany by the Nazi threat in the early 1930s. He explored the new creative possibilities of photography, capturing spontaneous scenes from life on the street.

They had one son, Mark, who was born on 5 July 1964, while the Earl was still married to his first wife, Marion Stein.
