Hace 3 días · Blenheim Palace, residence near Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, built (1705–24) by the English Parliament as a national gift to John Churchill, 1st duke of Marlborough. It was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh and is regarded as the finest example of truly Baroque architecture in Great Britain.

Before this, she was Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 8 March 1702. Anne was born during the reign of her uncle King Charles II.

Hace 6 días · The main house, called Marlborough House in 1683, was rebuilt over 30–40 years by Charles, duke of Somerset (d. 1748). In 1684 he commissioned John Deane of Reading to design a new house. The old house was apparently demolished and work begun on the new one in 1688. Work greatly accelerated in the later 1690s.
