Marmaduke Furness, 1st Viscount Furness (29 October 1883 – 6 October 1940) was a British shipping magnate and during his lifetime one of the richest men in the world.

Marmaduke Furness was the son of Christopher Furness, 1st Baron Furness and Jane Annette Suggit. He served as Chairman of Furness Withy, the shipbuilding firm, and was also involved in the steel and iron business.

Thelma was the second wife of Marmaduke, first Viscount Furness, chairman of the Furness Withy shipping line and 20 years her senior. Tony was their only child.
Thelma Furness, Viscountess Furness (née Morgan, 23 August 1904 – 29 January 1970), was a mistress of King Edward VIII while he was Prince of Wales. She was supplanted in his affections by Wallis Simpson, for whose sake Edward abdicated, becoming the Duke of Windsor.

23 de ago. de 2021 · Thelma, Viscountess Furness, was born on 23 August 1904 as Thelma Morgan, the daughter of Harry Hays Morgan Sr. and Laura Delphine Kilpatrick, in Switzerland. She had a twin sister named Gloria, a sister named Consuelo and a brother named Harry. From her father’s first marriage, she also had two half-sisters.
Viscount Furness, of Grantley in the West Riding of the County of York, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1918 for the shipping magnate Marmaduke Furness, 2nd Baron Furness.
