Martin Chemnitz (9 November 1522 – 8 April 1586) was an eminent second-generation German, Evangelical Lutheran, Christian theologian, and a Protestant reformer, churchman, and confessor.

The Work of Martin Chemnitz. Martin Chemnitz produced some 65 works, most of which were written over a relatively short, but industrious, period of time. Chemnitz had an incredible ability to deal with controversial topics with an approach that is both scholarly and winsome.
The life of Martin Chemnitz (1522–1586) is unique among the Reformers. Coming from a working-class background and with very little formal education in theology, Chemnitz trod a circuitous and unusual path to become one of the most significant Lutheran fathers.
