On the death of his father, on 10 November 1852, he became the 2nd Baronet de Trafford, 25th Lord of Trafford, and took up residence at the family home of Trafford Hall, in Trafford Park . On 17 January 1855, he married Lady Annette Mary Talbot, eldest sister and co-heiress of Bertram Talbot, 17th Earl of Shrewsbury.

Mary Howard was the daughter of Lord Edmund Howard and Joyce Culpeper. She married Sir Edmond Trafford, son of Sir Edmond Trafford and Anne Radcliffe. She died without issue.
I think Burke's says she died, without issue but the Peerage made a mistake. History of Parliament has his children as his 2nd wife.

Sir Humphrey Francis de Trafford (3 July 1862 – 10 January 1929) was an English landowner and racehorse breeder. He was the son of Sir Humphrey de Trafford, 2nd Baronet and Lady Annette Mary Talbot. On the death of his father on 4 May 1886, Humphrey became the 3rd Baronet de Trafford.
