  1. Mary Elizabeth Pitt, Countess of Chatham (2 September 1762 – 21 May 1821), formerly Mary Elizabeth Townshend, was an English noblewoman and political campaigner. Her husband was John Pitt, 2nd Earl of Chatham. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney, and his wife, the former Elizabeth Powys.

    William's lifelike wax effigy, wearing Parliamentary robes and wig, is on display in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries in the Abbey triforium. The wax head and hands were made by American sculptor Patience Wright. Her daughter Phoebe helped set up the figure in 1778 in the upper Islip chapel where other wax effigies were on show.
