History. The title of Lord Elphinstone was granted by King James IV in 1510 to Sir Alexander Elphinstone of Elphinstone, who was killed at the Battle of Flodden three years later. He was succeeded by his son, the second Lord, killed at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh in 1547. His grandson, the fourth Lord, served as Lord High Treasurer of Scotland.

18 de dic. de 2023 · Lady Mary Beatrice Anna Margaret Frances Isabella Elphinstone, here treated, is the third daughter of John Elphinstone, 8th Lord Elphinstone and his wife Lady Isabel Maitland She was born at Edinburgh on 10 January 1680, The Scots Peerage III: 544 and her baptism was registered there on 23 January 1680.
Lord Elphinstone was the son of Rev. Hon. Andrew Charles Victor Elphinstone and Jean Frances Hambro. His paternal grandparents were Sidney Buller-Fullerton-Elphinstone, 16th Lord Elphinstone, and the former Lady Mary Bowes-Lyon, elder sister of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. He was educated at Eton College and the Royal Agricultural College.
