Maria Alexandrovna "Masha" Enzensberger (Maria Alexandrovna Makarova) was born in Moscow and settled in London, UK, in 1969. Through her, aspects of Russian culture of the 20th century reached Anglophone readers, especially in relation to film and poetry.
