Matthew Stanley Quay (/ k w eɪ /; September 30, 1833 – May 28, 1904) was an American politician of the Republican Party who represented Pennsylvania in the United States Senate from 1887 until 1899 and from 1901 until his death in 1904.

Matthew Stanley Quay was born on 30 September 1833, in Dillsburg, Pa. His father was a Presbyterian minister who rode the circuit in western Pennsylvania, Ohio and western Virginia. His devout father labored diligently in a number of religious activities which kept the family in tight financial straights.
