De film betekende de grote doorbraak van Scorsese, Keitel en De Niro, die enkele jaren later opnieuw zouden samenwerken aan Taxi Driver (1976).
Critics reviews. Charlie is in a dilemma: he aspires to be a big shot in New York’s Little Italy mafia, but he also wants to be purged of his sins.
