Miembro de la orden religiosa de los Misioneros Combonianos del Corazón de Jesús (M.C.C.I.), fue ordenado sacerdote el 18 de febrero de 1979.

Menghesteab Tesfamariam, M.C.C.I. (born 24 December 1948) is an Eritrean Catholic prelate who has served as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Asmara and head of the Eritrean Catholic Church since 2015. He is a member of the Comboni Missionaries and has been a bishop since 2001.

Se trata de la sede metropolitana sui iuris de la provincia eclesiástica eritrea de Asmara.
