Kripke)와 어머니 도로시 크립키 (Dorothy K. Kripke)의 1남 2녀 가운데 장남이다. 두 여동생의 이름은 매들린 (Madeline)과 네타 (Netta)였다. 6세에 이미 고대 히브리어를 읽을 수 있었다고 한다. 이 시절 크립키의 유명한 일화가 있다.
