Disraeli as a leader of the Conservative Party, with its ties to the landed aristocracy, used his Jewish ancestry to claim an aristocratic heritage of his own. His biographer Jonathan Parry argues:

Scopus would be cut off from the Jewish held section of Jerusalem at the end of the War for Independence. When the city was re-united, Mt. Scopus again became part of Israel and Jewish institutions were re-built and revitalized.
