New Grass Revival was an American progressive bluegrass band founded in 1971, and composed of Sam Bush, Courtney Johnson, Ebo Walker, Curtis Burch, Butch Robins, John Cowan, Béla Fleck and Pat Flynn. They were active between 1971 and 1989, releasing more than twenty albums as well as six singles.

New Grass Revival, affectionately known to many of their fans as NGR, was a band that formed in 1971 and gave rise to a musical movement known as newgrass. The accent was on taking the older forms of bluegrass and reinterpreting them with a contemporary/progressive sensibility.

New Grass Revival, formed in 1972 by four former members of the Bluegrass Alliance, flourished in a decade when numerous groups took traditional bluegrass and changed it to varying degrees. As one of this movement's most prominent and influential acts, they hold the distinction of seeing their name become a generic label: "newgrass."
